Mt. Diablo Training Ride

Dino and I wanted to do a little hillclimbing on a weekday, so we met at the base of Mt. Diablo for the 11.8 mile ride up. Here are some shots to give an idea of the grade (although my camera isn't level) Basically, it's as steep as you think it should be for a "mountain".

Being a weekday, there were very few other cyclists going up the mountain, or cars... So the only pictures I could take were of Dino or the trees along the side of the road.

Well, here's one of the trees. I like the color contrast of this photo.
At the top, it was a bit chilly. The view was very good, if a bit hazy. Where else in the Bay Area do you get a 360 degree view of the Valley? I'm sure there are a few, but we rode up this one. Here's a panorama from the top of the summit, which looks about 270 degrees.

This is my number from this year's Tour de Cure. It means I was the 20th highest fundraiser for the Napa ride. Thank you, sponsors!
